Real-estate giant Pyramid acquires Kinsgston firm
Upstate Commercial Group has been acquired by Pyramid Brokerage Co., Pyramid announced on January 7th. Steve Perfit, former president of Upstate, is now managing director of the Kingston office under Pyramid. All current Upstate employees were retained.
Syracuse based Pyramid has ten offices across upstate New York. In August, the firm became the exclusive upstate New York affiliate of global real-estate giant Cushman & Wakefield, which has offices in 58 countries.
The acquisition of upstate filled a gap in both Pyramid's and Cushman & Wakefield's coverage, said Bob Berkey, Pyramid's chief operating officer. The region is expected to serve as a relief valve for businesses that want to be close to New York City without paying city rent.
